Functionality overlapping between Editor and Modeler

Hi, I have a very general questions I was not able to find in the forums.

Since some updates I got the following message in VSCODE:

Important: Some functionality of Syside Modeler overlaps with Syside Editor. To avoid conflicts, uninstall or disable Syside Editor before using Modeler.

What would be exactly the overlapping part?

I’m missing some functionality when deactivating Editor or is it fully contained in Modeler?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Alejandro!

Syside Modeler is a superset of Syside Editor, so if you are using Syside Modeler you can safely uninstall Syside Editor and not lose any functionality.

Functionalities that are in BOTH Editor and Modeler are:

  • Semantic highlighting
  • Semantic validation
  • Model navigation (Go to Definition, Go to References, etc)
  • Documentation on hover
  • Smart renaming
  • Document outline
  • Auto-completion
  • Auto-formatting

Functionalities that are ONLY in Modeler are:

  • Model visualisation
  • CLI commands
  • and more features to come (table views, model trees, etc.)
